Bush Advisor Steps Down
11.18.04 (3:36 pm) [edit]
Much ado is being made about Colin Powell's resignation as Secretary of State. "Turmoil in the Bush Camp!" "Powell at Odds with Bush!" etc.
Well, thanks to Rich Galen, here's some interesting info. Here are the tenures of all Secretaries of State in the last 50 years.
Eisenhower - two terms, two Secretaries: John Foster Dulles (1953-59,) Christian Herter (1959-61) Kennedy/LBJ - two terms, one Secretary: Dean Rusk (1961-69) Nixon/Ford - two terms, two Secretaries: William Rogers (1970-73), Henry Kissinger (1973-77) Carter - one term, two Secretaries: Cyrus Vance (1978-80), Edmund Muskie (1980-81) Reagan - two terms, two Secretaries: Al Haig (1981-82), George Schultz (1982-89) Bush - one terms, two Secretaries: James Baker (1989-92), Lawrence Eagleburger (1992-93) Clinton - two terms, two Secretaries: Warren Christopher (1993-97), Madeline Albright (1997-2001)
There you have it. 13 Secretaries of State in 50 years, averaging less than four years each. Only 3 served longer than four years. It isn't uncommon for the President to change Secretaries of State.
Back to Condoleeza Rice for a Moment I'm still waiting for Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and the NAACP to step up and defend Condoleeza Rice as a smart and accomplished black person. I'm sure the press conferences will start any minute.

Tying up a few loose ends
11.17.04 (3:46 pm) [edit]
Well, Yasser Arafat died a few days ago. You would have thought that a worldwide hero died, rather than someone who made his living blowing up innocent men, women, and children. I didn't read in many articles or hear many news anchors mention that Arafat got his start as a terrorist. I did hear it mentioned that he won the Nobel Peace prize. I also heard it repeated that he was the driving force behind the desire to create a Palestinian state, despite Arafat's best efforts to subvert the movement. But the one item that REALLY caught my eye was a USA Today headline "Arafat's Death Leaves Void."
Leaves void? I thought. What sort of void? The void left by a leader? One who inspires? Typically a leaving a "void" means that you need something to fill it again. If there's a "void" in your life, you need (or want) to replace it with something. What sort of void would a man like Yasser Arafat leave? I wondered. Finally it hit me...Yasser Arafat was a terrorist asshole. Arafat's passing means that there will be one less terrorist asshole in the world. Arafat's death left a void. But don't worry, the wonderful, peaceloving religion of Islam is working hard to fill that void. I'm sure another terrorist asshole will be along shortly to fill Arafat's shoes.
Funniest headline I saw was James Taranto's "Best of the Web Today" from November 15th over at Opinion Journal:Arafat in Stable Condition After Dying in a Paris Hospital Indeed!
Muslims are Pissed Off So those in the Islamic community are all pissed off because some Marine shot a wounded "insurgent" (read: terrorist asshole). Keep in mind that the Marines were unaware that the mosque the wounded man was in had already been secured by another group of Marines (chaos is common during war, yeah?) Keep in mind also that another Marine in this group had already been killed by a boobie-trapped "insurgent" who was playing dead. Also remember this same group of Marines had come under fire by these "insurgents" using the mosque for cover the day before. (I thought Mosques were places of peace...)
Meanwhile, peaceful followers of Allah beheaded an aid worker who had lived in Iraq for 25 years. She was a vocal opponent of the war and of the sanctions led against Iraq. This woman had been helping Iraqis for 25 years and got her head lopped off as a reward.
Here is a list of known murdered hostages: Jack Hensley, Nick Berg, Eugene Armstrong - US Margaret Hassan, Kenneth Bigley - UK Ivailo Kepov, Gegory Lazov - Bulgaria Enzo Baldoni, Fabrizio Quattrocchi - Italy Hussein Olayyan - Lebanon Zoran Nasovski, Dalibor Lazarevski - Macedonia 12 workers from Nepal Sajid Naeem, Azad Hussein Khan - Pakistan Shosei Koda - Japan Kim Sun-Il - South Korea Durmus Kumdereli, Murat Yuce, 3 other truck drivers - Turkey
I'm willing to make a bet that we're still talking about this "innocent wounded insurgent" in a week. I'm also willing to bet that Hassan won't be mentioned in the news tomorrow. We'll see if I'm right. Those in the National News Media were more upset over Abu Ghraib prisoners with panties on their heads than the beheading of Nick Berg. More upset over the treatment of ENEMY COMBATANTS than those of innocent people.
Clinton Library To Open President William "Slick Willie" Jefferson Clinton's Presidential Library, Truck Stop and Bait Shop will be opening soon. Take a look. The thing looks like a giant fucking trailer. And not a double-wide.
More Diversity, but only for Democrats Let me tell you about a woman. A black woman. Grew up in the South in a poor family. She made something of herself. She became a doctor. She is about to become the most powerful and influential black woman in history. Nah, screw that, she already is. But she's a Republican, so apparently political cartoons with her saying "Yes, Massa..." or calling her a House Nigga are okay. =http://boortz.com/images/funn... target=_blank [image]heavyarms_56268800 9.gif[/image]

George W. Bush is President...and the world still hasn't ended!
11.07.04 (12:34 am) [edit]
|
Well, first some updated numbers. 1) George Bush has received 59,209,925 popular votes and, MORE IMPORTANTLY, 286 Electoral Votes. He has received more votes than any other presidential candidate in history. Almost nine million MORE people voted for him this year than in 2,000. How's that for a job approval rating.
2) John Kerry has received more popular votes (55,638,551) than any other presidential candidate in history...except George W. Bush. And all the pundits heavy voter turnout would faver the Dems. Whoops!
Another note to take comfort in, the only states John Kerry carried were whiny, liberal pansy states up north. No Southern states, no states from the "Old West." These two regions are generally the two greatest and most reknowned regions in US history, the Old West-birthplace of the cowboy, and the South-which just generally kicks ass. Kerry carried whiny liberal New England, where people whine and drink their tea hot (without even sugar) and generally act better than you. He also carried the whiny liberal north central states where it snows alot and people shoot themselves in the head because that's more fun than actually having to live there. We won't even talk about the whiny liberal Pacific Coast because those guys are just an earthquake away from joining the bottom of the ocean anyway.
Republicans Kick Ass, Take Names Something else that isn't being played up too much in the National News Media, not only did a REPUBLICAN candidate get more votes than anyone in history, the REPUBLICANS gained seats in both the Senate (55 Republicans, 44 Democrats, 1 Independent who, for all intents and purposes, is a Democrat) and House (232 Republicans, 202 Democrats, 1 Independent who...yadda yadda yadda.)
Of course, that didn't stop whiny liberal Democrats from reverting back to calling for "bi-partisanship." Earth to Nancy Pelosi...America just put your ass out of business. In the words of the great philosopher Trey Parker "Lick my butt and suck on my balls." (If you haven't gone to see this movie yet, Go! Go Now! -- H-arms)
Good-bye Just want to get serious for a minute. This week, two people who I like to think were very good friends of mine moved on to bigger and better things. I just wanted to say that I'll miss you. Just know that I won't look forward to the next day's labor as much as I used to.
P.S. Speaking of whiny liberal pansies.
Some of us — hopefully most of us — are trying to understand and appreciate the effect our recent election will have on you, the citizens of the rest of the world. As our so-called leaders redouble their efforts to screw you over, please remember that some of us — hopefully most of us — are truly, truly sorry. And we'll say we're sorry, even on the behalf of the ones who aren't.
Don't apologize for me, bub. I'm not sorry that we elected a president who will put America's interests ahead of the interests of the "citizens of the rest of the world." In case you didn't notice, some of us - ACTUALLY (not hopefully, but ACTUALLY) MOST OF US - elected this president. Am I sorry? Yeah, I'm sorry you're a bunch of fuckin' pussies. Peace out.

Yesterday's election
11.03.04 (2:49 pm) [edit]
Just a few things you may not have heard about the 2004 Presidential Election.
1) George W. Bush received more popular votes (57.3 million) than ANY other presidential candidate in history. John Kerry has received more popular votes (53.7 million) than all but two presidential candidates, Bush in 2004 and Ronald Reagan in 1984 (54,455,472). This is as of this writing, the numbers will continue to go up.
2) 2004 is the first time the winner of the election received more than 50% of the popular vote since George H.W. Bush did it in 1988. 1988 - George H.W. Bush, 53.37% 1992 - Bill Clinton, 43.01 % 1996 - Bill Clinton, 49.23% 2000 - George W. Bush, 47.87% 2004 - George W. Bush, 51.22% Again, these numbers do not include everything, they will change somewhat. http://www.uselectionatlas.org/" title="http://www.uselectionatlas.org/" target="_blank"http://www.uselectionatlas.or...
Want a reason for the Electoral College? [image]heavyarms_94652362 .gif[/image]
The counties in red are the counties Bush won, blue went for Kerry. If you'll notice, most of the blue counties are centered around major metropolitan areas like New York, Seattle, Boston, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Detroit, New Orleans. The area of the counties Bush carried is 3.28 million square miles. Kerry, 741,000 sq. mi. Population of the counties Bush won, 150.9 million. Kerry's counties, 103.6 million. If the presidential election was decided SOLELY on the popular vote, candidates would only have to campaign in the most populated metro areas rather than entire states or regions. This would lead to candidates ignoring less popluated and rural areas even most of the population still lives there. Candidates would also place the interestes of those in major cities ahead of everyone else in an attempt to woo their votes.
Tomorrow, a review of the networks coverage of election night!
